Anyone who knows me, knows that I love cheesecake. As in, cheesecake is one of my two favorite foods (the other being Eggplant, odd combo right?). And I am serious about my cheesecake too. I am really picky about the consistency and the graham cracker crust to filling ratio and all that. But walking into the staple cheesecake shop in the city last weekend, I can say that I finally found the perfect cheesecake.
Basically, y'all this cheesecake was "the bomb".
I am cheesecake obsessed and I like to get cheesecake everywhere. If I had my way, I would have a cheesecake for my birthday every year, but alas, not everyone is a fan.
But if you are a fan, you HAVE to visit Eileen's in north Little Italy (NoLIta). It was ridiculous how the strawberry melted in my mouth. They have this big counter that nearly takes over the small storefront that includes every single cheesecake combo you could want. Crème brûlée, Bailey's liquor, regular, pineapple, everything! Nobody will leave disappointed! The sizes range from personal ($3.50) to entire cakes ($30+). The store also has other treats for non-cheesecake lovers (what are you doing with your life!?) in case you don't care for the creamy goodness that is cheesecake. Cannolis and tarts also line the bottom of the case.
One thing I learned from visiting the store was that everyone goes to Eileen's. She has pictures of celebrities lining the walls with signatures that include thank you notes. She even ships her cakes all over the country to curb the inevitable NYC cheesecake craving.
So of course I went to Eileen's with Risi (because who else do bucket list-y stuff with?!). We each got a personal strawberry cake and then split an espresso (which the lady said was Bailey's but peep the espresso bean on top).
